The day we found out about Baby Sunshine!

On Friday, May16, 2014 I woke up in Augusta, GA. I was working that week, enjoying the privilege of taking care of Cameron, Elli and Reese Robinson.  Their mom and dad were on a special trip to Laguna Beach.  I was enjoying the girls!!

I woke up Reese that morning and went to change her diaper, it made me gag.  That had never happened before.  Hmm, that's strange.  Next I went to feed their cute little yorkie, Duke. The smell of his dog food was repugnant...  interesting.  A few moments after that I realized that my back was very sore.  I tried stretching.  But the pain wasn't going away.  I took my temperature, but had no fever. I mist be sick… but I rarely get sick.  I was achy and nauseous.

I called my mom. Told her that I thought I was getting the flu.  She giggled and said "You are pregnant".  I had not even considered that to be an option.

I had to take the girls to Target to pick up a few things.  As I passed the dog food aisle, it happened again, that horrid smell that made my tummy mad! I quickly went and picked up three pregnancy tests.  I wasn't sure that I wanted the ones that said "pregnant" in digital words.

I got the girls home, feed them lunch, and put the baby down for a nap! I ran into the bathroom to take the test.  I had taken many of these since Daddy and I got married.  They had all been negative.  I wasn't really expecting anything different.  Except that, I felt different.  Very different.

I waited after just a few seconds, this popped up… I was shocked! WHAT!! Could it be???  A baby?

This fancy digital test was suppose to tell me how far along I was.  That didn't pop up.  But I had always hear.  You get a false negative sometimes, but never a false positive.  About two minutes later that popped up too...

the "2-3" meant that I was 4-5 weeks along.  How exciting!  But I was without all of my big crazy family in Augusta.

I had to call my mom!  She was having lunch with her prayer partner, Pamela Joy O'Grady.  I Facetimed her! She screamed, she cried and was elated.  It was one of the most exciting things ever!

Next I called Aunt Noël and Uncle Michael!! They were so excited!!  They were crying… everyone couldn't wait for you to come!!  Tears… many many of the happiest most joyful tears in history!

Then I called Auntie Carissa!!  She was so very excited.  You see, Baby Sunshine, the day before we had been talking about how I thought that daddy and I were almost ready to begin pursuing foster parenting for a season, because we were not getting pregnant.
Next, I decided to call your wonderful Daddy!  He hardly ever answered FaceTime calls from me, but i thought that I would give it a try anyway.  Well, good timing on my part...

Your daddy was surprised!!  Very Surprised!! excited (and a little terrified).  But we had a Baby Sunshine on the way!!

Next I called Auntie Heather, Auntie Katie, and I tried very unsuccessfully to contact BoBo…
Uncle BoBo was at his new summer job for the Attoney, Bob Anderson in Columbia, SC.  He wan't allowed to answer the phone.  So i texted him and texted him to go to the bathroom.  He did and we got a few minutes on the phone to talk about the exciting news.  Later that day he posted, sneakily, about you.

Baby sunshine, you have been the reason for quite a few changes in my diet.  You love fruit, or you made me love fruit, all things that grow out of the ground, all kinds of fruit (but we don't like them all mixed together).   Mostly, I have been loving watermelon and cherries…  Thank the LORD that it's summer and those fruits are in season.

(A few weeks ago, my watermelon cravings had been so severe that your Aunt Katie bought me a watermelon and a watermelon baller for my birthday).

However, yesterday I was not feeling well.  Haven't been feeling well the past few days and have not been hungry in about a week.  I was racking my brain about what to feed us.  We didn't want steak, pizza, mashed potatoes, taco's, crepe's, fruit, mac and cheese, chicken (blaaa), salad, meatloaf, nothing creamy, soup, spaghetti… nothing sounded good. Until, I heard Barbara Rosenbaum talking about her delicious Thai lunch.  This was my very first craving.  I had to have Pad Thai.  Weird huh?  I was craving rice noodles, chicken (which had previously sounded the most aweful), bean sprouts and some deliciously weird peanut sauce.

Ahhh… it was delicious, the best food ever!! ...until the 7th bite, when we didn't want it anymore.

Baby Sunshine, you have made me fickle in all my food ways.

 I love being your mommy!
I dubby you to the moon and beyond Baby!
